# What is Wiacom

> Understanding the Wiacom Intelligent Connectivity Platform

Wiacom is an **Intelligent Connectivity Platform** — a cloud service that extends your WiFi infrastructure with identity, onboarding, access control, engagement, and analytics, without replacing any hardware.

## The Problem Wiacom Solves

Traditional venue WiFi offers two poor options: an open network (no identity, no security) or a shared WPA2 password (minimally secure, anonymous, unmanageable). Neither gives you:

* **Identity** — who is connecting?
* **Consent** — are you GDPR-compliant?
* **Control** — can you revoke access for specific users?
* **Insight** — visit frequency, dwell time, loyalty patterns?
* **Engagement** — can you reach them after they leave?

Wiacom solves all of this while working alongside the WiFi infrastructure you already have.

## Two Distinct Layers

Wiacom separates onboarding from access enforcement by design.

| Layer | What it does | Examples |
| -------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Onboarding** | Registers and identifies the user, captures consent, triggers the access flow | Guest Connect, Student Connect, portal registration, PMS check-in, API |
| **Access** | Grants the validated user WiFi connectivity using the method configured for that location | Portal (RADIUS), WiFi Pass (iPSK), Key Access (PSK), Passpoint Connect, Horizon |

A user onboarded through Guest Connect can receive access via WiFi Pass. A user checked in through a hotel PMS can receive Horizon personal SSID provisioning. The onboarding channel and access method are configured independently per location.

## Platform Structure

Wiacom has two administration sides:

| Side | Who uses it | What it manages |
| ------------------ | ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **MSP / Admin** | Wiacom partners and resellers | Customer accounts, inventory, controller onboarding, compliance settings |
| **Client account** | Venue operators | Portal visuals, registration forms, campaigns, analytics, troubleshooting |

The inventory hierarchy is: **Access Points → Zones → Location → Customer account**. Each location belongs to exactly one business name (required for data protection compliance).
